Took my wife in after she had a migraine. Doctor never saw us until the end of the visit and only offered a referral, the doctor then had the nerve to send a bill of $900.00 for this visit. I thought that was the end of that, I was mistaken. I received another bill several weeks later from the hospital who wanted $2200 for the visit.
Do yourself a favor and take the extra time, if possible, and go to another hospital, unless you enjoy being mistreated and being stuck with a $3100 bill for a single IV.
If this was done properly from the start we would have been in and out in an hour. As we have experienced with proper care from Alexandria Hospital.
Unqualified staff AND no personal touch. No one was ever rude or nasty, but this was truly an emergent situation! An ER should be able to treat Asthma and turn on OXYGEN! He ended up on a PICU because they refused to give him Albuterol and oxygen which he got from INOVA Children's Hospital immediately. INOVA also stated he did NOT have an EAR INFECTION or PNEUMONIA!
He was Never given oxygen in the ER despite feeling short of breath and having an ASTHMA attack. He was only treated w Albuterol TWICE while in the hospital ~(We were there FROM 2PM-2AM).
I checked with several hospitals in the area and they said the average cost of a Minor ER Visit ranges from $418, to $667 for the room. When I told them how much Haymarket charged they said "Someone messed up in Billing."
They claim they can charge the $1700 for the room visit alone because we were there for over two hours. Now this is where it gets interesting, the nurses their were very inexperienced and took over 2 hours to get an IV placed. They had 4 nurses try several times, all while butchering my wife's arm, until they gave up and finally called for an expert. These nurses could not put an IV in my wife's arm.....
A pediatric MD was NOT in the hospital. The respiratory therapist said I should have him transferred out to Children's. At 2AM I had an ambulance called and transferred him out as suggested.
Incredibly unprofessional! Three of the direct patient care staff members assumed treatment procedures for me without consulting the chart information. I'm fortunate to have been conscious so I could correct their assumptions. Had I been there for a n invasive procedure, I would have left immediately after the first assumption was made. Thank God the doctor knew what I was there for!
Staff admitted not being set up for pediatrics! In addition, he was never given a pillow, blanket or asked if he was hungry in the ER. He was in the ER from 2pm -11pm, and he's 5!!
Haymarket Docs, RT, and nurses had no idea how to treat an Asthma pt, OR a pediatric pt. They couldn't even find a pediatric nasal cannula or oxygen mask when they finally decided to use one!!!
His condition deteriorated while at Haymarket. By 2AM he complained of "not being able to breath" , and they refused to give him any medications to help. I had to ASK for them to put him on OXYGEN!
Went into the ER at 2pm w my 5yo son, who was having an asthma attack. I informed the staff of the meds given at home , along with his health history. Haymarket performed a chest Xray, and he was diagnosed w pneumonia and a double ear infection.
We recently had a baby, C-Section, and decided on Haymarket hospital to have this done. I am very happy we chose this facility!! The doctors that did the procedure were fantastic! Very helpful and patient answering all my questions prior to the procedure as well as being very attentive post procedure. The nursing staff in labor and delivery were wonderful!! They were so attentive for my spouse as well as my son. I could not be more pleased with this experience. I highly recommend anyone having a child to deliver here.
Went in to have a port incerted, was very nervous n overwhelmed. Had a nurse named Adrianne who was Wonderful. She made me feel so calm, explaining everything going on. I can not express how much her Care n concern made me feel safe n secure.
The INOVA ambulance team that showed up(and saved his life) immediately put him on CONTINUOUS Albuterol therapy and OXYGEN~ which I had been begging for, for hours (he stayed in the PICU on Albuterol therapy for 2 days)!!! Then he was transferred to a regular unit, where he was monitored for a day before being sent home.
I called the hospital several times to discuss the matter with them ignoring the issue with the bill and the issues regarding the nurses who butchered my wife's arm by responding in a letter.. and I quote "Based on our review of your concerns, we have determined the care and treatment you received were appropriate, and we are unable to honor your request for a bill adjustment."
After the event, my wife's arm was severely bruised and discolored for a week because of the nurses inability to insert an IV properly.
Still waiting for them to call back to rectify these items after disputing there response.
