I am a member of the VCA care club which was supposed to provide free check ups and shots up to 3 times per year. I took my kitty in for fleas, and what I expected to take 20 minutes took over an hour. The veterinarian proceeded to come in and tell me that I would have to give my cat a pill by mouth for the next two weeks and that it would cost me $120 for these pills. I asked on the spot how big the pills would be and the vet assured me it was "the size of a grain of sand or maybe a grain of rice." The pill is essentially the size of a piece of hard catfood. Way too big for my kitty to swallow in one bite. So after 3 days of my kitty not taking her medicine I call back to complain and of course they are NOT open on weekends. At this point I am completely confused as to why they would give a cat who is at most 6 pounds a pill regimen expecting her to gulp down these pills instead of just giving me a topical like advantix. I have tried crushing them up and putting it her food and she won't eat. I tried manually putting it down her throat and she gets very agitated whilst trying to claw and bite me.
Great staff. They provided excellent care for my dog. They stayed late helping him. Really can't say enough good things about them.
We have been going here for a year and we love these guys. Every dog I have ever had HATES the vet. My dogs now LOVE this vet. The techs love and smooch on them while we are waiting, and in the exam room, distracting them with treats while they get shots etc. The vets are gentle and knowledgeable, explaining everything they do and why. They also give you a cost estimate before they do anything so there are no surprises at the counter. The only downside is you don't get in and out fast because of all the loving and explaining, but to see my dogs get all perky and wiggly at the sight of the vet makes it all worth it.
VCA Healthy PAWS Medical Center is our beloved fur son, Nikko’s saving grace!!! Last month, October 24, 2017, our nine pounds, seven year old, Yorkie got into a big dog-little dog fight where Nikko suffered a great lost (muscles tore from skull)! My husband took Nikko to VCA Healthy PAWS Medical Center where the AMAZING team Dr. Dasari and staff performed the emergency surgery, saving Nikko’s life! The next day, we had a consultation by a neurologist in Leesburg, VA where we were told that in order to give Nikko a chance of survival and quality of life, an elective surgery would need to be performed after cumulative of tests along with supportive care (MRI, CT scans, medicines, and more) or only supportive care with an estimated costs of $11K-$13K. Unfortunately, my family and I don’t have the monetary means to do any of those things recommended nor do we have any pet insurance to aid with costs on top of what we already paid for. Therefore, the only solution was to put Nikko down to end his suffering.
So over the next 48 hours Nikko was give holistic care and love by the wonderful staff of VCA Healthy PAWS Medical Center! There are no words to describe the fight they had to give our Nikko a second chance in life. The devoted veterinarians Dr. Dasari and Dr. Lucy kept a close eye in Nikko’s care, progress, pain management, antibiotics, scans, blood work, laser treatments, and more each and every day. The ever so loving and dedicated hospital manager/LVT, Sharyl sacrificed sleep for a week to care for Nikko overnight giving him pain meds, food, and water via syringe, making sure he is well. The wonderful LVTs and Veterinary assistant staff: Trinity, Elyssa, Jenna, Jacob, and more (sorry I can’t remember all) helped love, care, and spoiled our Nikko boy to the max over the next nine days. All these great holistic care, therapy, and medicine combined aid in Nikko’s recovery for he was able to eat/drink on his own by the eighth day – then being discharged to home on the ninth day!
I've brought both my cats to Healthy Paws over the last 8 years, they have consistently received excellent care from the staff. The customer service is always very positive. I especially appreciated the options and pricing the doctor gave me during the diagnosis and treatment of my 12 year old cat suffering from kidney stones and neurological issues.
As my family and I were spending our last few hours with Nikko, the most incredible thing happened – a call from Dr. Dasari! Dr. Dasari spoke with the neurologist who gave updated report in regards to Nikko’s condition according to her assessments and what she had recommended, then ultimately sharing to Dr. Dasari that we have chosen to put Nikko down. Dr. Dasari respectfully asked me if we could give Nikko a chance – a couple of days of supportive care to see how well he would do! I then informed Dr. Dasari that in a perfect situation – we would totally do everything we could to save Nikko, however we don’t have any monetary means to do so! Then, Dr. Dasari kindly informed me that VCA Healthy PAWS Medical Center would give supportive care in these next couple of days at NO COSTS – Charity base – if we simply allow Nikko to be their patient, making sure he is greatly taken care of! WHAT A GREAT BLESSING!!!!
Today marks the third week since the traumatic accident occurred – but Nikko is now able to walk once again. He is continuing to recover day by day and with the help of home physical therapy along with laser treatment at VCA Healthy PAWS, Nikko will continue to recover! THANK YOU DR. DASARI, SHARYL, AND TEAM FOR THE LOVE AND CARE you all have given to Nikko! No amount of words can describe the gratitude we have for you all! Thank you for giving our fur son Nikko a second chance in life! You are all Nikko’s ANGELS! God bless you all ten times fold of what you guys have done for this family. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OUR HEARTS!!! God is good!
